Can anyone tell me the outside diameter of a headlamp bowl gasket for the pre focus 700 headlamp for a Mk1?
There’s various different diameter gaskets available.
I think 21cm is possibly correct But would like clarification
if possible please

Just measured some of mine - on the car - Andrew and I'd say they are 20 cm dia.
The rubber is just underflush of the headlamp rim, though I guess that is somewhat dependent on the make / style / quality of the headlamp rim.

Thanks Woody
Sitting just inside flush seems more correct than slightly proud.
They’ll be original brass rivet Lucas rims. I’ve had a measure of the rim off the car and 21cm would be just smaller than the o/d of the rim, so the rim sits against the rubber with a small overhang.
Anyone else able to confirm ?

Can't add anything about the dimensions, but when I did my S I wasn't satisfied with the fit of the headlamps and seals. So I dug out some nos 50s ones , they use a slightly different retainer but they fit perfect with an even gap round the seal etc. The quality of these Items had gone down hill a bit by the time they built the mini imo.

I’d agree Nick, the quality definitely was better with really old Lucas stuff.
That’s a useful picture Woody to see how the seal and rim look.
I’ll have to do a dummy fit of the seal and headlamp on a spare wing I have to see how it compares with the picture.
