Hello,
I have some steel door hinges that I plan to refurbish, some have broken studs/bolts in.
Has anyone had any experience or advice on the best removal techniques? I do not know how susceptible they are to cracking etc, I am not in a hurry so can leave them soaking in deox or another fluid if that would help.
Could anyone also please confirm the imperial threads for me so I can ensure I have the correct taps if necessary (is there a list anywhere or pdf showing this or am I best to go on minispares exploded views etc?)
Thank you
Hinge refurbishment

Re: Hinge refurbishment
The threads are 1/4 " x 28 tpi on both ends.
Let them soak for a long time and a bit of heat might help.
Good luck!

Re: Hinge refurbishment
I'd use an oscillating tool, dremmel, or hacksaw to cut a groove in what remains, then use a flathead screwdriver on them.
