Q how does the later Mk1 Heater Case fit at the location under the Ignition switch panel... do i fit the two thin steel slide on screw anchors on to the lip on the heater case or onto the body cross member under the ignition panel .. in other words does the Heater case secure under or inside the dash cross rail in the area of the central ign;switch panel ?
the problem is memory loss of the owner.
Seem to remember someone on this Forum did this job at the Factory.
Mine has the 2 spire clips under the switch panel and the self tappers go up through the heater flange to secure front edge of heater . So I supported the heater at the rear bulkhead end and then pushed the front upwards and fitted the screws . Looks correct.

Yes I know it’s not original
My wife says I don’t listen to her or something like that !
There are four positions on the dash lip....these are for LHD or RHD....you install the spire clips accordingly....on most cars the rear threaded stud only catches one of the brackets protruding from the bulkhead...
Many Thanks .. you have confirmed my fitting method is correct .. its been some time since the strip out & best to make sure.
and for my further education to "Learn something new every day" .. today its the reason why the extra Heater securing slots are press tool stamped out for either LHD or RHD into the underside of the parcel shelf rail

Pleasure...regarding learning something new everyday...my old man used to say...."the day you stop learning is the day the put the lid on the box"!
sorry to pull this back up, I'm having the same confusion with refitting my heater (fresh air '65) .
Looks odd that it only hooks onto one side at the back?
You may have seen i've posted on some fb groups?
Just after some confirmation really, some people may be implying the shell or heater is wrong.
Many thanks....Dan.
Re your Heater Case hook at the back issue .. i made a screw on extension onto one of the rear of Heater existing horizontal studs to ensure the Heater was supported on both sides into those bulkhead hooks.,, cant be seen & does the job.
I was concerned not only to support the weight of the Heater but also to stop rattles.
Me being an Old Git i cannot remember the original set up,, but i do remember a couple of other shells that i have rebuilt have had the same rear mounting issue .. so stop worrying that there is something wrong back there with your Shell or Heater .. there is not.
As polarsilver has said, the box has two short studs for fixing to the bulkhead hooks. The heater only hooks on one hook depending on whether it rh or lh drive. I couldn't get the heater box to hang level so as polarsilver I also made an extension for one side to reach the spare bulkhead hook, now it sits level when fixed to the dash rail.
Thanks chaps, i'll carry on.
yes it does look like the same heater as pictured above...
Mine is october '65 , don't know if brackets changed or heater?
Checked our other late 64 earlier and that is connected both ends as well - never been removed, or at least since we owned it in the early 80s. One of th first hydro cars btw.
