RC40 CENTRE BOX/SILENCER

Post by SMOKE GREY »

Wondering if anyone has built an exhaust system using just the centre box of the RC40? Will be with a freeflow manifold, would it be silly noisy , or very sporty..? :)

I think it might be a bit noisy. The centre box is just a straight through box with a bit of fluff wrapped round a perforated pipe. Very much like a carbon can on a motorbike. If the old A-Series could rev to 10,000rpm it would sound great, but I bet it is more likely to sound like a grass tracker or Mini-Rod.

I'm not sure it would sound that good. I'm sure there's more reason to this question than you're letting on - why only keep the low slung centre box in place of a better positioned rear box?

What does Jonny run on the 850?

I run my car with a single box rc40, but I've got the centre box in the garage. When running in my new cam I slid the centre box over the tail pipe in an attempt to keep the neighbours happy. It didn't quieten it very much.

Counter intuitively the twin box system flows better than using the single back box. Don't think anyone has tested with just the first box.
