I'm in need a full headlamp assemblies for my Mk1 project - gaskets, metal bowls and lense/units.
What is the best 'in period' modern unit available and a supplier? I've noticed some suppliers use thin wall headlight looms and I would prefer correct thick wall looms if possible. I've previously used SVC on other cars and found their products to be very good quality.
At the risk of being flamed I am quite attracted to tripod units - I realise these are not period correct but I do rather like the look of them and I'm not taking a purist approach to the build - passe or okay, any views?

Cibie Iodes for me. Valeo make the new ones.
I think those tripod ones are a bit "merde"
I agree - one of the best lamp units there was, NLA now though unfortunately
I bought a pair a few months back and with good bulbs they are great . Why are NLA ? I wonder and hope it’s just temporary .
Never forgave them for discontinuing Type 22,s and Biodes .

Yes I know it’s not original
My wife says I don’t listen to her or something like that !
Don't know why, but was trying to source some for a friend a few weeks back.
Nowhere had any stock and the odd few that were coming up on ebay were ridiculously priced. I use all Cibie and Valeo part numbers I could find (and permutations of them!).
Ones without sidelight were available if IIRC.
Okay so apart from Cibie Iodes (which I'm not in the market for), what are the best options for complete headlamp units which look 'correct' but which are affordable and available, new, from the various suppliers
