Solved. One top ball joint had a lot of play but only with steering lock applied. My normal checks with the steering straight showed no issues but I happened to be checking the CV gaiter with the steering turned and felt the play immediately. That would explain the sudden dive I was experiencing when cornering. New joint fitted and back to normal. These were new Unipart joints, don't usually have any issues with these. Just glad it was a simple fix for a change.
