Had it fitted to my car for years..... as the Muppets would say .. "Its roooobish".

You can buy a reasonable bottom runner but I was told that the machinery can't make a run long enough for the top section...

Cheers, Ian

Interestingly a few years ago I bought a set of upper window track rubbers from Minispares. They were easy to fit, well shaped and had a series of crossed relieving cuts where the two curves fit in the frame so that they didn't bunch up. I recently bought another set from Minispares for a second car, but what turned up looks quite different. I am not impressed with them but haven't tried to fit them yet so I guess I should give them the benefit of the doubt...

The flexible upper runner that Minispares (and all the other specialists) sells, although nothing like the original, fits perfectly & works exactly as it should. All you need to do is make sure it is fitted correctly in the first place. It usually takes a bit of shuffling about when fitting, but once it has settled down then it stays in shape for ever & won't rot or rust like the originals.

It is without a doubt an improvement.

I used the original stuff from BL many years ago, but have probably used the flexible stuff on 10 cars without a hitch.

If you aren't happy with them, I am sure that someone will offer NOS ones on ebay eventually, & will get some hundreds of pounds for them

I had a selection of Mk1 genuine nos upper window tracks & threw them away because they had self destructed over the past decades.. Today its a case of fit the Minispares ones and be happy that some sort of alternative is ready available . ;)

You just fold them up into a rough "W" shape as you feed them into the window channel, then just sort of wobble the central bit around until they assume the correct shape & position. It is often helped by firmly running your fingers down the two channels a few times, do one side of the seal, then do the other & repeat until it looks & feels right. I really have never had any issues with fitting them at all.

I can't comment on the stuff above as I have never needed to use it.

Have you cut slots in them like the originals - in the corners that is?

I can't claim much experience as I have only done it a couple of times, but that doesn't look good at all??

It can't be fitted correctly. As I say, I have done loads of these & I have NEVER had any fall out once they are correctly positioned. They fit in behind the rebate in the window frame & are firmly held in place.

If they are 12years old & have a memory through a long term storage twist .. maybe that is your issue?
