Looks about right, but as long as wires reach the interior light will be ok. Pretty sure mine split about same place, yes it goes through near wiper motor and connects to front loom, if mk2 there are some fuses near there, but looking at carpet presume yours is mk1, hardest bit I found was getting wires to door switches, I think one wire runs across header rail and down drivers pillar
Agree your wireing looks about same route as my actions.. I also run a length of "spare & not used" Twin Core Wire from front to back following the route of the main Harness as a just in case i need another supply for whatever maybe be a future need .. Why .. because i do not want to take my Headlining down anytime soon.
I've seen the side to side courtesy light switch run along the dash tray in the past, but not sure if that is correct ? Certainly easier to get across than around the cant rails !
Piece of 1/16 welding rod with a hook on the end to hook the wire out of the A post void.
No courtesy lights on mine thankfully but yes they appear to have been wired into this loom as a cover all I’d imagine?
Like wise - I appear to have both types of fuel tank wiring. Which is also the case on my genuine Nov 64 car.
Thanks for all replies and yes polar - I have run extra cable for other rally lights, plus yet another 4 cable to the rear on the drivers side... why not
Re Polarsilver's extra wire post.......I just converted my 79 MKIV to electric fuel pump, and, for various reasons, going through the cabin (obvious way to do it) just wasn't going to be easy......
I had just purchased a wire fishing gizmo intended for pulling household wiring through walls etc. After trying different scenarios, including, hooking it up to the lights, tank sending unit, .etc .etc, I had stroke of genius (sounds better than just saying I had an idea, right), I wonder if I can use my new household wire fishing gizmo on the Mini......
So, grabbed the gizmo, and, started fishing around in the trunk. This is a 79, so, has the glued in headliner, not easily removed just to fish one wire.....Anyway, found there was just enough room (going down the right hand side, didn't want to even think of trying it on the left where the rear harness already is) to start pushing the wire tape thingy up the C post......felt it go round the bend into the roof channel, kept pushing, going pretty easy, got to the A post and, felt a bit of resistance, so, gave it a couple of good bumps, and, around it went, pushing on as they say......
Pushed it till it stopped, thought it was the door buffer thingamy, turns out, it went all the way down the A post and, stopped at the floor/sill........Was kinda gobbsmacked at that, as, basically it went so easy, right from the trunk, right down to the bottom of the A post....
Anyway, the rest was pretty easy, pulled it back a bit, to about the door buffer thingamy, there is a hole already with a grommet for the door switch just bellow the buffer to push the wire through, the door buffer hole is plenty big enough to get the wire tie wrapped onto the gizmo, and, just start pulling......Wire cam through easy peasy.......
The whole business took less time than this post did, less than ten minutes, job done.......And, very easily done too.....
I wouldn't have thought it possibly, never mind as easy as it was..........Ya just never know until you try stuff.....
