Dynamo charging light

Here's one for you.. I started my mk2 998cc cooper today after an engine out clean up. Now it's back in my charge warning light on the dash gets brighter when I rev it up. What have I done wrong?

As car not used a lot lately it will be worth polarising the dynamo and cleaning up the points in control regulator, it’s what caused similar issues with mine,
