Minispares 1.5 forged rockers
Hello chaps.
I’ve just fitted some minispares forged rocker arms to my 1275GT engine (1805 head) the push rods are hard against the front of the rocker tubes in the head casting ..
Any ideas where I’ve gone wrong?

Re: Minispares 1.5 forged rockers
Are you using standard non modified rocker shaft pillars? If so you have to open the stud holes and move them back. To get the increased ratio the push rod arm of the rocker is shorter and the valve end longer, so things need repositioning.

Re: Minispares 1.5 forged rockers
So machine the stud holes in the std posts? I’ll have to move them a good 3mm ?
That will affect the oil feed?

Re: Minispares 1.5 forged rockers
So should I just buy the rocker assembly C-ATH436?
Is this just bolt on?
Any other options?

Re: Minispares 1.5 forged rockers
You need push rod clearance on the push rod bore at full lift. As to oil way clearance, if that is in doubt it is simply a matter of grinding out a groove in the rocker pedestal to align with the oil feed.kit of bits wrote: ↑Sat May 16, 2020 7:48 pm So machine the stud holes in the std posts? If in doubt fit the full kit.

Re: Minispares 1.5 forged rockers
Same but more expensive!
Think Calver supplies them.
They are a nice bit of kit.

Re: Minispares 1.5 forged rockers
I'm pretty sure the Swiftune ones are supplied by Calver. They are actually slightly cheaper from Swiftune - £295 +VAT compared to CalverST at £299.50 +VAT. The CalverST website only shows ex-VAT prices. It's a bit academic though as Swiftune are out of stock!

Re: Minispares 1.5 forged rockers
They are the same, was tempted but hear(From mini engine builder) the pads are not heat treated and suffer pretty bad wear, anybody else seen this?

Re: Minispares 1.5 forged rockers
I have used 3 sets of Keith's 1.4 rockers & have been VERY pleased with them. No sign of any appreciable pad wear apart from on one rocker that turned out to be slightly nipped to begin with.

Re: Minispares 1.5 forged rockers
Goodness me! That's not great.
I don't know if it is a new innovation that these rockers are supplied by MiniSport. But I have seen a whole pallet of raw rockers in Keith's old unit at Malton before now. Maybe things have changed since he has moved down to Norfolk.

Re: Minispares 1.5 forged rockers
I remember him posting that his old supplier gave him an 'option' of either paying considerably more or they would farm out the production to China. Not sure what the outcome was.
Was MiniSport that old supplier? Or are they who he has turned to for alternative production?
