Re: Jack refurbish
Hi Daz
Is it the orange 'T' shaped Jack that you want to refurbish as I have the same problem, I am thinking of bead blasting it back to metal & repainting as I have obtained a perfect paint match for the orange.
Does your jack have the original labels on it as mini have become unreadable, thinking of contacting one of the decal printing companies to see if they could reproduce the label.
Cheers
John

Re: Jack refurbish
Yes it’s a tee shaped one, but currently a newer black one so want to refurbish to red/orange colour.
It looks like it need uncrimping at the top but then when reassembled to crimp it would damage paint,

Re: Jack refurbish
If the jack isn't rusty soda blast it. That will remove all the paint with out any damage to the screw. You would have to mask up the screw to paint it.

Re: Jack refurbish
Like Daz I also want to refurbish my Jack, please can anyone with the same type & colour of Jack post clear photos of what the two original labels on the Jack post should look like to maybe obtain some reproductions?

Re: Jack refurbish
If you don't want to remove the top crimped plate you can remove the small pin on the top of the screw shaft which allows you to remove the shaft. You can then blast and paint the jack body in two stages by sliding the sill attachment up and down.
Tap the pin flush to the edge of the shaft and the turn it 180 deg and pull it out.
The stickers used to be available from autojumbler Brian Hore.

Re: Jack refurbish
Thanks for this information Bob which resolves the problems on how to refurbish the Jack.
Spoken to Brian but he hasn’t any of the labels at the moment but he will have some available soon.

Out of interest how do you contact the supplier of decals, as would purchase a set myself

Re: Jack refurbish
I have refurbished quite a few of these...sure there was a thread on this a few years ago.
The original decals are paper.....I may still have some ...somewhere...I know I made a batch.
