LCB Exhaust manifold for mk1 with rubber couplings

I have NEVER had an LCB that didn't need some "manipulation" to fit around rubber couplings. Even the Downton / Maniflow rubber coupling special still needed hammering to fit correctly.

I bought my first LCB in about 1971 from Janspeed for a new engine I'd built, with rubber couplings, and it fitted perfectly. At that time Janspeed offered an LCB for small bore and big bore, as the blocks were of a different height.

I'm going to beg to differ with Mark here and say the first LCB I bought back in 1991 fitted just fine, with no modification. Have done some digging to identify the manufacturer and found the receipt dated 30/11/91 - it was indeed a Maniflow mild steel C-AEG365. Interesting to see though that although the shape has clearly changed, in 29 years the price for this has only risen from £57.50 to £79.14!

Never had any clearance issues when I used to use ql5000 joints with the maniflow large bore long 3 into 1 I bought in 1991.

Think the point being made by myself and others is the 'normal' LCB manifolds used to fit both large and small bore cars with rubber drive couplings. Afterall, the space is the same between the drive coupling and subframe regardless of engine size so we are on the same page discussion wise here

I think a freeflow is a good option for a small bore and has loads of room.
