Gearbox innards compatability

Post by 28hodge »

Hi I have a 22g1128 gearbox from an 1300gt with the C/R lay shaft/ratios.

My car runs a rod shift box and I am putting together a spare engine for it. I need to get a spare rod change case to build the 22g1128 box into. What’s the easiest/most straight forward rod change case to build it into. I have 22G1832 and a DAM5626 cases that I can get hold off, the block is pre a+ if that makes any difference.

Thanks

More of your parts will swap in the 22g1832. You'll also need The Shift Parts, like the Selector Shaft, Spool, Bell Cranks, Main Shift Rod, Selector Forks etc.

You''ll also need a Rod Shift Reverse Gear. Look for one that has the long single bush in it. Very late in the piece, they got it in their head to fit two smaller bushes and they usually want to walk out.

The DAM5626 Case is, 'on paper' a stronger case, though you'll either need to run A+ Drop Gears or fit an Idler Gear Bearing that has an adaptor on it. Many firms sell these. Why I say 'on paper' with these is that they are a much better designed and stronger box, but in the later years, the accuracy on the machining dropped off.

Thanks, so by the sounds of it a complete box is going to be more use than just a case, and then swap out the main and lay shaft, I have have an mv metro engine in the car currently so it makes sense to put this one on a dam5626 box as well then the 2 engines can be used to make one if ever needed.
