Post by irlmin »

While digging through the residue of a misspent youth I came across this manifold , memory says I replaced it with some manifold or other from Longman back in the day . anyway its over to the people with the knowledge

I don't recognise it, but looks like it should work very well. Nice touch with recess for o-rings.

Is it ported for inch & half carbs?

Was looking around the loft today and came across a rose jointed linkage ( will get some photos later ) which if I remember correctly was from the same set-up , I know around that time I was using split Webers on the 1293 and perhaps it was those I fitted the Longman manifolds to .

The mounting flange is only good for HS2s.

Possibly H4s as I also found a set of H4s in the loft . does anyone know who manufactured the manifold in the pic ?

No idea who made the manifold (very nice BTW) but I am quite curious about your magic loft ;)

Spent many years rallying various minis back in the 'day ' and of course built up a few bits , some have remained in storage , some decent bits, lots of rubbish I am afraid as well .

That is a very nice fabricated manifold.

My first thoughts were possibly an early Janspeed, but it doesn't look long enough. What is the angle on the pipes?

I will continue to hunt through the archives, but as they say. . . . don't hold your breath for a definitive answer.

Just a quick update on this . I got the twin H4s out of the loft and indeed it looks like they were used with this manifold , perfect fit and evidence of 'O' rings on carb bodies . Carbs have WR 9869 stamped or punched on 'inlet' side of carb bodies does that mean anything ? better get reconditioning these while we are restricted due to current circumstances . G

Hi - first post on here and thought I could hop in on this thread as I've been sorting through my carbs and manifolds and found this - probably got it from a scrapyard in the 1970's or early 80's. Its 30 degree, brazed and looks similar to Janspeed/Downton steel manifolds that I've seen in the archive - any ideas or comments welcomed - thanks, David
