plenty of engine blocks
http://www.ausmini.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=73118
i`ll be posting up more pics of all the crap that my dad has been hording over the next few weeks
it`s like the ultimate Assue mini parts grave-yard here & this is but a pinch of what he did have before he moved it all to this place, the old "Readspeed" shed is long gone , soo soo soooo sad that he sold it off but he really needed to trim down & cash up on the building so i don`t blame him
sorry about the poor phone camera pics,,, i`ll buy a new digi camera in the next couple of days , or maybe take a video of it all with my helmet cam yeah???
maybe even do an interview (or 20) with the old man, make him reminisce about the "good ol` days" yeah?
anyone interested in this type of segment?

Re: plenty of engine blocks
sorry, i`m useless at this net/web/rules/thingy
sorry about the phone pics,,, this one has them stacked up about 3 blocks tall, about 5 blocks long & about 4 rows deep
& there`s waaaaay more than just that lot
i have just bought a digi cam so i`ll be taking a pile more shots of all the other mini crap we have on 'the farm"
cranks cranks & more cranks anyone???
& here`s some other random crap
My dad`s shop-> ReadSpeed Mini mecca (Back in the day)
My dad , Happy Jack,,, (or Hungry jack, depending )
another one from "back in the day"
this one when i was a little kid
who am i kidding, i`m still a little kid
now "This one" is an oldy, me with my moulton pushy & my motorkhana (auto-test) buggy beside me
must be all of 6 or 7 years old there
Oh!!! & how did this one get there???,,, Must have pushed the wrong button
stay tuned , more pics of piles & piles of old mini crap comming
edit--> Oh & here`s a funny one for you all & this is a true story,,, in that shot of ReadSpeed shop,,, you should see a std-ish blue 998cc powered Aussie deluxe parked in the service station car park (to the right of center), well the guy who owned it worked for us (Terry John Whan) he`s actually seen walking out of Readspeed in center of shot,,, well,,, when he got this deluxe running he went to the Dept of transport to register the car to drive on the roads & once the paper-work was sorted & the money was paid, they handed him the new number-plates --> TJW-998
& not kidding,,, this was well & truely before "Personalised" number-plates were even thought of in Aust
how`s that for a silly little trivia item almost X-factor stuff hey?

Re: plenty of engine blocks
if you left blocks outside like that here, a certain, er, 'demographic' would have them recycled in no time.......
im not sure even a lock would keep them safe once people knew they where there!

well,,, i sat here wondering WTF was that guy one aout,,, white transits with greedy boards???.... because i couldn`t work out for the life of me wtf that had anything to do with all the engine blocks & photos & my dad or me or whatever,,,
then , after a few days of it tinkering around in the back of my head, i think i`ve worked it out,,, i`m a bit slow some times , but i`m guessing that there was a certain white transit van running around stealing stuff to cash in for scrap yeah?

matt
your correct,
the transit pick up that someone else often sees reversing slowly up your drive, down the back at work, into your yard is always the sign that either anything metal will go missing, or shortly will go missing, occasionally with the contents of your garage, shed, garden, plus occasionally your caravan, trailer and four wheel drive.
the 'scrap wombles' will even happily stoop as low as stealing the bronze plaques from war memorials etc......
still, its their 'uuummman roooights', and as such the police never (or very rarely) want to know - all you get is 'heres a crime number'
we have been done twice at home (all my 'scrap metal' and a land rover discovery (they tried to steal it, made a real mess getting in, so left it), my brother has been done twice (landrover defender vanished without a trace, and entire contents of garage & stables (not inc horse),
we dont even bother calling the law out anymore - its not worth the effort - the last time we did they turned up three days later........

Re: plenty of engine blocks
You cannot generalise on classifying these "people" because that would be racist.
I was even called up on using the term "Caravan-dwelling entrepreneurs" the other day!
Let's get this straight, they live in caravans so that their itinerate status makes it difficult for the authorities to make them accountable for their actions - it's nothing to do with cultural identity or any other bollocks terminology the BBC come up with to defend them. It quite literally makes me sick. The silent majority wants rid of them but, as usual, liberal pinkos get in the way because they have nothing else better to do.
Drive them into the sea....or better still, into their own houses where they can dump as much human excrement, sanitary towels and lavatory paper as they want. Try getting away without paying tax when you have a postcode attached to your name. Bastards!

Re: plenty of engine blocks
I think the more correct term of reference these days is 'Caravan utilising nomadic travellers'
