I’m attempting to refurbish my speedo from my 997. I fail at the first hurdle. I can’t budge the needle from its spindle. I need some bright ideas. A degree of force has not shifted it. I’ve never come across one on so tight. Help.

Seen mention of using a fork, slide it under the needle and pull up?

Re: speedo needle and turns per mile
Good idea but panic over. By taking the back of first I was able to lightly hold the disc and twist the needle back and forth until it came away. No damage.
Rather than cog count what do the numbers (in white paint on the mechanism) 40/ 32 mean. Number of teeth on cogs but how does this translate to turns per mile (in this instance)? Again your wisdom would be appreciated cos I’m too tired/ lazy to think.

Thanks, I had seen this ages ago but quite forgotten about it. I even printed it off. Amazing what passes you by. A really good reference. Great thanks again.
