What is proper way to install the differential collets?
They do not seem to fit in nicely & snugly.
They are #49 in the photo.

Re: MK1 S differential collet
Thanks Jay
They do not “fit” fully in the groove.
I positioned them the best I could.
Is this what you had in mind?
I assume when the washers and bolt are inserted the collets may be pushed in completely.

Re: MK1 S differential collet
Since they do not easily “fit” in this groove is this an indication they should be replaced?
What is normal?

Do you have them upside down?
This is new collets on an old output shaft from my car.

Re: MK1 S differential collet
As in Iain's picture the spigot on the end of the output shaft should position the collets in the groove. The radius on the collet goes toward the radius on the output shaft. Just to confuse the issue there are some collets with a radius on both sides.

Thanks all, I believe I have it.
Your pictures helped enormously.
My collets have a radius on each side.
I did not see the groove into which the collect sit.
