No Handbrake

Just finished the Brakrs of a 62 Traveler and find out that the Handbrake is not working properly.

When i engage the Handbrake there is as good as no Brakepower on the Wheels.

All set up properly but it will not work.

My question: are the handbrake quadrants specific to the van and travelers? These are the only parts i changed as they were completely rotten...

Cables are new Minispares units.

The Quadrants needed are for Dry Arms, but be aware, they do have a back and a front. When fitted the wrong way, the Handbrake Lever will pull up to a hard Stop but there's little pressure applied to the Shoes. When fitted the wrong way, the Quadrants hit the part of the Arm Casting that has the Knuckle Socket in it.

My 62 wagon back in the day could easily lock both rear wheels at 80 miles an hour, using just moderate force on the hand brake........

So, when set up right, they work quite well....

Hi I also have a problem with my handbrake. I have renewed everything but the quadrants as these were free, but the handbrake is shite! The quadrants appear to be hitting on something on the inboard end.
My ‘65 Elf was originally Hydrolastic but many years ago was converted to dry suspension. I have looked on Somerford’s website and see there are different quadrants for wet & dry suspension. Reading this post I take it there is a right way and a wrong way to install the quadrants?
