R/H tank straps
Do the straps that secure the right hand petrol tank have a cushion or anti-chafe tape between the strap and the tank?

Re: R/H tank straps
Am I wrong in thinking that they are the same part for either side?
Makes sense to have the tape

cut 1" strips of 2mm cork gasket paper and glue them on the contact side only.

Any tank strap should always have something between it & the tank. Never a good idea to wear holes in your petrol tank.

Thanks for the replies. I seem to remember on my first car that the straps had a sort of heavy duty paper on the contact side of the strap but I like the idea of 2mm cork paper. Will give it a try.

Re: R/H tank straps
When i stripped out my car the tanks had ex Leyland Parts Box Cardboard cut into the long strips to tighten up between the Tank & its Strap? easy to id as some of the Leyland still showed & that Blue card seen on one side.. proof that Leyland cardboard packing lasts some 20 odd years & 40k miles later .. when i took both Tanks out the Straps & Tanks were still perfect .. no i did not re-use this packing but somehow now i wish i had.

Used a 2mm cork paper with adhesive on one side. Worked well, thick enough to protect but thin enough to be flexible and not crack. Thanks for the suggestion.croc7 wrote:Thanks for the replies. Strips of thickish card smeared on both sides with Tiger seal or the like, and allowed to cure works well.
