Headlining options

Post by roymck »

Now I know my car is not standard and the headlining has been replaced at some time in the past but it needs doing again .

So it’s a Mid 63 Austin deluxe Mini . The car as it stands now has a aftermarket non BMC grey headliner that does not match the Newton commercial grey material or the sun visors . Was the grey originally supplied called grey crackle as the sun visors are grey and have a crackle finish , I guess that is not available anymore if I wanted to match new headlining to the existing sun visors .
Was grey and white available as a standard fitment colours if so what was fitted when . That means the grey material from Newton is not standard pattern as it’s not crackle , is the white material as per standard fitment pattern ?
So cream was crackle pattern , grey was crackle pattern but white was not?
Not sure now what to fit in the car .

Sorry about the rambling , Clear as mud eh!

Hi Andy , think I will go for cream crackle just means I have to get new sun visors as well ...

Still not sure exactly what should have been on from new though .

Chassis numbers for change points regarding grey and cream headlinings can be found here. Look at page 142.

'The Bible' according to BMC - should have thought of that!!

You can always spray a crackle roof with the grey is that is correct? You will lose the glue stains but the paint is very effective indeed ;-)
