Wiring Maserati Air Horns with + Earth ?s
Does anyone have the installation instructions (or know how to wire) for the Maserati Air Horns that were once sold by Harry Moss? My relay (I think it is the original one that came with the horns) has 3 terminals (TR BATT PUL). In addition, the compressor has 2 terminals on it. My countryman has positive ground. I plan on wiring the horns to a seperate button and keep my original horn connected to the steering wheel. Thanks in advance!!

Re: Wiring Maserati Air Horns with + Earth ?s
These are triples but yours should look basically the same.
.............
The 2 connections on the body are +ve and -ve
..........

................
The nearest one is the + (This car's -ve earth btw.)
Neither side is earthed so you should be OK
......

Run the power through a fuse and relay to the compressor.
Sorry no idea about your relay!

I have no idea specifically re your relay, but generally speaking if its a 3 terminal relay then the "BATT" terminal will be a live battery feed, the "TRIG" terminal will probably go to the swith which will eventually go to earth & the final terminal "PUL" will be the feed to the horns. This works like this.
DOH!

Thanks Jack!

Assuming you mean a relais like this

Harry Webb issued a leaflet like this

with the connections like this

or like this

I hope this answers your question

Re: Wiring Maserati Air Horns with + Earth ?s
I want to thank everyone for the feedback. I still have a few questions (please excuse my ignorance). My plan is to keep my original horn connected to the steering wheel. I am going to install a separate switch that will be used to activate my air horns. I want to emphasize that my car has a Positive Earth. Can someone look at the pictures that I am posting and let me know if my hand drawn schematic will work? In addition, I also asked what part of the relay is being marked earth/horn (right side of the relay).

Hello 62 countryman
If your relais is the same as the one in my photo, the first scematic is the one for you(an yes it will work with positive earth.
The earth part is indeed the mounting lip.
If you have got a relay as shown in the bottom two scematics then 85-86 is the coil connection and 30-87 the swicth with 30 being the live side.
I hope this answers you questions.
@ Marc(mk1)
I was surprised you didn't come up with the installation darwings, havn't you got them?
Cheers,
Jack

Jack,
My relay is the same one that you posted (red with 3 connection points). I have the same compressor that is listed (at least the connectors are on the side verses underneath). Did you look at the drawing that I posted? Cheers LP Yokohama Japan

As i said in the previous post, your drawing is the same as the first drawing of the installation so yes it will work.
Just make sure the relais and the compressor are the 12V version (if its 6v there is 6v imprinted on the mounting lip of the relais and on the back of the mounting lip of the compressor).
Have fun,
Jack from Holland
