Just read the offical reply from E bay - what a load of woffel - it states that that they are aware of the effect it is having on Sellers - and so therefore it will also be having an effect on buyers - therefore less sales - and lower prices are achived ,therefore e bay will also earn less ! Seems like they have shot themselves in the foot. I have not got the patience to search throught all the Mini parts from China . Now Ex directory e bay user!

So with that logic why do they have a classic car section??? We can search for a car by the year, what a load of toss! Or will that be the next section to go!

I called ebay and spoke to someone in customer support (in the US) to let them know how displeased we are with their recent change. I too sent a message to them and here is their reply:

and dont forget, these are only the ones, that found it (I was not one)

I really cant see how they can defend this decission ?
Blimey - they have sections for the most outrages stuff  just try and press collectables  46 sub catagories
dont for one minute, try to convince me, that one of those, make more money, than Classic Car Parts - NO WAY.

I've had a reply now, with a bit more information on what they plan to do

Thank you for writing to eBay with regard to reinstating the classic car
parts category.

I apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused. Please
understand that these changes were made on the recommendations of the
community members. Since the search done by the buyers was very low in
this category, sellers also list there similar items in other similar
categories instead of listing in this category.

Further, there is another change made from early September 2011, wherein
sellers will be able to show all the cars that are compatible with their
parts or accessory in one listing. This will be available for most car
categories within Vehicle Parts and Accessories.

A large number of buyers on eBay Motors are unsure whether the item they
buy will fit their car when they make their purchase. By assigning the
compatible cars from a Master Vehicle List (MVL) of more than 16,000
models to there listing, buyers will find the parts they?re looking for
more quickly and have the reassurance that they?re buying the right part
that fits. This should also help result in fewer queries and returns.
Plus, you save time, as you don't need to search different listing for
each car model.

In the meantime, you can also try the following link to search for the
'Classic car parts':

http://www.ebay.ca/sch/i.html?_nkw=%22v ... m270.l1313

Further, I understand that it is indeed very difficult to adapt with
something new, when you're habitual of using certain features for long
time, this change is designed to help buyers like you to reduce precious
time to search for the car parts they are looking for and also for post
transaction issues.

Also, I'm confident that with few days of usage, you should be liking
the changes. If you are not satisfied even after few weeks or months of
usage, please feel free to contact us back with your suggestions. We
will be highlighting your feedback to our site developers so that they
can use your inputs for any future changes.

In future, you can also use our "Sending Suggestions to eBay" page, to
send your suggestions, by copying the following link into a new browser
window:

http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/account/suggestions.html

Thank you again for taking the time to let us know what you want and
need from our services being a valuable member of our community. I wish
you continued enjoyment and success on eBay in the future.

Kind regards,

Brian Grisham

The problem with people quoting what their parts fit is a stupid idea. Most people selling stuff have no idea what it is for, let alone what cars it is for. :?

I did a search last night and it appears that the amount of classic Mini parts up for auction has dropped from around 4,000 to 2,500 this week, and most of the stuff that is listed is rusty old junk. Shouldn't be too long before Fleabay realise the error of their ways.

I agree, totally stupid, and LOOOONG gone, are the hidden "bargians" that only a few people find.

I spend maybe a 1/4 of the time om Fleabay now, compared to when CCP section, was there.

Had a mail, from someone, who have thousands of feedbacks, he has completely stopped trading now,
he wont sell again, before CCP is put back online.
