Lovely pictures from the dashboard with the leather Springall steeringwheel. There is also a Britax sticker on the dash, same one as on the wooden one on the forums dashboard question ?

It looks like Sir Alec is trying to sell one to Reggie Kray but Reggie, with his finger pointing is trying to 'negotiate' a bigger discount........

Now that is a comb-over!

Here's an interesting photo I found at the NEC of the Goodwood all-Mini race for journalists in September 1960 at the 43rd Members Meeting which blow a few well peddled myths out of the water!

Keeping with the Yardley BRM theme, I wonder if Mr Oliver ever took a ride in this

Politicians in Minis....
https://www.aronline.co.uk/opinion/a-li ... 9-edition/

"First off are two images of Barbara Castle, circa 1968, with BMC works driver Paddy Hopkirk and Mini Cooper 1275S JMO 969D.
It is obviously a PR exercise to promote the use of seatbelts by motorists."

Image

Image

"The image shown below is of John Peyton, (Minister of Transport from 1970 to 1974 in Edward Heath’s Conservative government) in a Mini with Lord Stokes, the chairman of British Leyland. This was taken on October 25th 1972 at the London Motor Show and the occasion was the production of the three millionth Mini. The car, which conveniently happened to be a top of the range 1275GT, was rushed from Longbridge down to London for the Minister to pose in. Lord Stokes told the press: ‘Looking around the show you can see foreign manufacturers have copied our small car design. It won’t take us 13 years to build the next three million — as we fully intend to do.’ In fact it took around another 30 years to build the six millionth Mini, and that was a product of BMW’s Cowley plant Oxford."

Image

"Next up is Denis Healey pictured in a Mini (below) in 1980, after he had left office as Chancellor of the Exchequer.
In that role he had to find the cash to prop up British Leyland as Tony Benn’s dream of a state owned, worker controlled motor manufacturer turned into a nightmare."

Lucky escape for Paddy on the '66 Circuit of Ireland. The car was written off and the number plate never appeared again until 1986 when it was applied for, conveniently just after the DVLC torched all their old records of scrapped cars ;) , one of many scrapped works Mini number plates that reappeared from the scrapyard in the sky soon after this one.
