Change door key/lock cylinders..

Post by sandman »

A friend of mine want to change the lock/key cylinders in the door and boot locks on his MkI... He's acquired a new lock kit from MiniSpares, but cannot find out how to change them... Anyone got any pointers?
Cheers,

Its been a while...but from memory the barrel is held into the lock body by a tapered pin driven through crossways. The trickiest bit is finding the pin because it is often concealed by white dusty corrosion. Once you find it, clean up around its ends to get the corrosion off, then you can push it out from the narrow end of the taper. Then the barrel just drops out.

Is this the case for the boot-lock as well?
