Midgets, Sprites and Minors

Post by Pandora »

As the subline of the forum is "A friendly international forum for people interested in the tuning & modification of classic BMC vehicles" I just wondered how many members have any of the RWD A Series engined fair in their garages?

With thoughts of getting rid of the Lotus project ever more pressing, I keep finding myself hankering after an early Midget/sprite (not a frogeye) or a moggy traveler.

Am I alone in this?

Before I bought my latest project, I was looking into buying a frogeye sprite as I do fancy getting one sometime, really like the shape of them. Though at the time I thought even the projects were expensive for what they are and half decent ones weren't cheap either, but after what I paid for my project I think differently now.

I have a '59 Sprite and a '5? A40 Farina.
Would be good to have a forum on here for "Other BMC cars" to discuss our other obsessions.

Have 2 Minors at the moment. A 1970 2-door to sell on (bought it about 3 weeks ago) and a 1967 2-door for keeping.

Then, what about other A-series engined cars: Allegro, 1100/1300, Meastro, Metro, Vanden Plas, etc
Too many cars...

I've got a 72 mod sport racer sprite which needs restoring. It had a fully rebuilt howley racing 1480 motor with it which was nice! But To be honest I'm thinking of selling the car minus the engine and box if anybody was interested? I've just moved and I don't have the room for it anymore and my old man wants rid of it(as it's stored at his place) It needs a fair bit of work, but has some good stuff with it, period John ally cage, 5 link rear axle with LSD fibre glass bonnet, boot and dash, plus ex works hard top with Jap mag wheels (big wide boys) pm me if your interested. Also have some new panels to go with it too, can't remember exactly what though, I know there's a new front panel and sills.

Oh man we are BMC succers, 3 Coopers, Sebring Sprite, MGA and a Austin Healey 100M, we sold a Frogeye and the MGB last year. BMC they were probably Rubbish but they were our Rubbish, full of character easy to rebuild and keep running, if you like your Mini's you will probably fall for a BMC SPORTS CAR! Be brave buy one.

I've always wanted a RWA Midget ever since i read an article in Practical Classics in the early 80's about a chap in Ireland who tracked his first car down completely by chance and restored it. The car was a Teal Blue 1275 with Ochre trim and it was registered EIJ 1110. Lovely car and a great story!
