Hi everybody... Steve here in California once again. I need a little help here if you don't mind. There is a metal fuel line running from the fuel tank along the frame up to about half way on the engine side of the fire wall. There it connects to a flexible fuel line that runs to the MPI. How do I disconnect the connection where the metal fuel line connects to the flexible (rubber) fuel line? Do you have to use a special tool of some kind? I would rather disconnect the two lines and not have to cut one of them.
Secondly... Seeing that Rover is no longer in business... Who works on the later model Rover Mini's in the UK? Does anyone have a phone number of a good late model Rover MPI Mini mechanic that they could send me?
Stupid questions, I know... but we don't have any 2000 Rover Mini's over here and no one knows how to work on them.
Thanks...
MORE INFORMATION... I just returned from looking at the car. These connectors are big and semi-cone shaped and are color-coded (1) GREEN and (1) ORANGE. Can you use your hands to disconnect the colored cones or do you need a special tool?
Thanks...
29 July 2010, 0830hrs. PST. - GOT IT... NO TOOLS REQUIRED... We figured out how the connections work and were able to separate the Orange connection however, we are still working on separating the Green connection. Thanks...
29 July 2010, 1500hrs. PST. - VICTORY, was able to disconnect BOTH connections.

Re: 2000 Rover Mini Fuel Line
Both connections are the same. Push the hose on to the metal pipe, hold up the ring at the edge of the connector and pull off the hose.
Take off the petrol cap first to relieve the preasure.
