kent cam figures

Post by littler »

this may be a silly question but, has anyone noticed the figures on the kent cams website for ST cams as being a bit less than they should be?

its not a .050" mesurement as the 948 is still 252 but the 649 they list is 287/281 ??

am i being thicker than normal?

Yep noticed this, I was told/or read somewhere it's because when kent originally measured several 649's. They varied that much, they finished up with 2 cams the 530 which is the lower average and the 930 which is the higher more like the original spec.

I run a kent 530 (649) and do feel it's a little tame, got a couple of original ST 649's and have wondered about sticking one of those in to try.

Isn't it something to do with not being able to grind an original 649 profile on a standard BL cam?

So they have to "compromise".
