1963 Austin cooper 997

Post by Charlynsane »

Hello guys,

My last purchase an unmolested and unrestored 997 Cooper

It was my child dream,

The chart is totally original and unwelded, with all dated elements (dynamo, solenoid, coil etc..)

I won't restore it, it's perfect this way

What a stunner!

Very nice, congratulations. It even has some nice period touches. Are the black portions on the bonnet and lower valence painted on?

Always nice to see a survivor car like this. :)

I like the 'hitler mustache' (for the want of a better description!) and the painted on teeth!

looks like a great little survivor

I thought you bought it in Switzerland. I saw it in February 2017, the former owner (bought it secondhand at the end of the 60s) if I remember correctly, it's called Mr. Aebi. He asked in excess of around 22,000 Chf, about 20,000 euros.

Yes, I still have a copy of the original registration card,

Mr Aebi exactly,

This car was a little overpriced, but how many left like that?

Your mini is fantastic, in really is even more beautiful. I was looking for one to restore, in my opinion, yours is to be kept at 100%, without too many invasive restorations. It is too original to be returned to the factory state.

Don't worry Geroch, I keep it like that,

I just made a good checkup, put some new side plastic trim and changed the seat diaphragm

Otherwise, I keep the car totally original

A little particularity off the car,

As you can see, there is a snail motor and a later type heater,

The fan is inside the snail and not inside the heater, it's a Swiss/French specie from late 63/64

Does anyone have more picture of the car or maybe the original advert?

Many thanks

I had 2 68 MKII that had this kind of heater, they were also fitted on some vans and pickups until 74 it's not limited to 63/64.. ;)

Very interesting,

My o2 others mk1, late 66 and late 67 have the same heater but with the fan inside de heater box instead of the snail

My mk2 has the later plastic box
