Fuel pump rebuild tips and advise

Post by rolesyboy »

I have experienced the expected with my SU fuel pump. It now requires a clonk from a hammer to activate it. (no mention of this in Haynes book!) I fitted one that worked when I finished building the car and it has not missed a beat until now. Borrowed time so what do I do?
I have half a dozen pumps which I could tear down, bead blast and rebuild but just wondered if a) it was worth it and b) what parts I will need.

Thanks. Mark

Burlen supply a replacement for the old points system which converts the pump into a solid state type.
Far more reliable and still looks like a standard pump.
