Faulty Facet

Not had a problem with a Facet fuel pump before but mine has just died since laying the car up for a few months, any suggestions ?

We once had this problem with a brand new pump on a Westfield S8, the pump had been dormant during the 12 months (of Sundays) we took to build the car, when we came to fire it up the pump didn't work, so we removed it, sprayed some WD40 down the inlet connection & gave it a sharp but considerate tap on a block of wood. It worked perfectly after that for the 7 years we had the car.

I've tried the usual 'twat it with a lump of wood' approach, but the tanks were particularly low so maybe it has 'dried up', I'll give a squirt.

It's a little cube type, sprang to life when I tried it across the battery so I've now got to find the dodgy connection.

oh the solid state ones, they normaly just stop when they have issues, where as the interupter/red toppy ones ect go down on flow , get hot, and sound buggerd i have found.

Incidentally, I've mounted my brand new red top sideways (Yes, yes, I know they recommend it should be upright!) as it fits well like this in my particular application.
Can I really expect any problems? Or should I move it upright immediately?

meh , put them any wich way they dont seem to care. the issue is that the filter relyes on sedimentation and there is a magnet in the bottom , so they say to put them that way up so as not to let the crap settle in the pump instead of the "sump".

.........so a little removal and inspection every now and then will ensure 99.99% trouble-free motoring?
