Few things also been more correct to be as close as original as Possible.. and help other guys.

My Feb 64 1071 project has just got restarted, the steering wheel is on the right side on mine though - loved your thread and learned loads... but can anyone explain the 'black' behind the grill please? Is it semi gloss for example?

A few of us had noticed the satin black behind the grilles on unrestored cars but it's still missed on alot of restorations. Its the same idea as the Elf/Hornets which had the centre of their slam panels painted in the same fashion to make it inconspicuous through the grille. I first noticed it on my old 'MEG' which was a '65 S but I'm not sure exactly when they started and stopped doing it, I'm unsure if it was for the entire duration of Mk1 production.

Mines a Feb 64 and my wife's is Oct 64. I'm sure that I recall that being black back in the day now... before the myriad of patches and paint so quite some time ago (hers has never been off the road but just kept going).

A little update since last... it been a along time since I made an update, but been very bussy..

its allmost near the end,but you know.. 2 steps ahead, and 1 back...

I will post update on some of the this soon with pictures..

But I would like to share a little great find last week. As most of you know BLUECOL was used in the 60´s on the cars, and they was fittes with the BLUECOL tags.

Last week I found a complete set of 14, still i bag, with 14 original labels too... Theyre quite rare theese days..

Over the years Ive just found a few, and noted they was made in 2 difference print.. They was made original with Danish print too..

Bluecol was a very common antifreeze in the UK during the '60's and remains a brand here today.

A little mounting job this evening. Mounting of an original NOS BMC fire extinguiser in the 1071. A small detail that was one the the parts in the BMC acceories.

hi is that a bcf extinguisher they are not good for your health better with a dry powder one instead there is an other one i can not recall the type but both were banned over 40 years ago just in case it is be careful

That is a very nice extinguisher, you rarely see them with the plastic safety top in place.

That's so good to see that fire extinguisher I found this longer one in the shed when I had my clear out in the summer. It is still full when you shake it, but with a bit more patina than yours

Thanks so much mate. Yeah.. i found a few over the years.. still full and unused. But newer i box, and the red tape around the top. I actually found 2 sets.

No one would use Them for fire today. They are rare and used for collectors and show How the originals are...
