Hello,
I recently bought a 63 850 mini and it had been stood for 3 years and the clutch pedal was seized. I assumed it would be the master cylinder, so I replaced it along with a new hose and slave cylinder. After this I had throw but no engagement, so I decided it was stuck on the flywheel/backplate. So I bobed it off and stripped it (its the early spring type) it didn't look to bad but showed signs of being stuck ( I also prior to this tried starting It in gear trying to free it off but it wouldn't free off). Now I've put it back together and tried it and its still not engaging!!! The bloke I bought it assures me it was ok before it was put away but I can't be sure of this. My next option is to change the arm and plunger and release bearing as it does look slightly worn on the ball of the arm.
Can anyone else suggest something I'm missing? As its doing my head in!!!
clutch problem!?!?

Re: clutch problem!?!?
i replaced the pluger, pins, bearing and the arm and it didnt cure it, so i replaced the clevis pin as it was ever so slightly worn and hey presto that cured it.
Bloody annoying, it didnt look that bad and i bought new ones just to change them anyway as i like it being new but i only thought to change them after i changed the arm! typical!
I Think the fact that the back plate looked like it had had a skimming and that perhaps effected how much throw it needed and the play in the clevis pin in the pedal must have been the icing on the cake! theres no way it would have worked prior to the car being put into storage as the bloke i bought it off told me it was fine! thats probably why it was put away and not used.
