1960 Monte Carlo Rally Mini 850s

Post by minitravellerman »

Would anyone have a few more detailed photos of the Mini 850s as campaigned in the 1960 Monte Carlo Rally and if at all possible a build spec. I'm thinking of building a look-a-like of these from my Mk1-a-like autotest Mini.

Three were Group 1 and three were Group2. The homologation papers are in the archive section of this forum, giving an indication of permitted spec. By later standards not all that different.
There has often been an assumption that the "TMO" cars were Gp2 and the new "AOG" cars Gp1 but the official entry list shows the Riley/Jones AOG car as Gp2 and the Morley/Morley and Pitts/Ambrose TMO cars as the Gp2s.

I was looking at a 1960 monte carlo rally plate off a works mini 850 last week, along with about 20 other 50s and 60s plates.
A fantastic collection.
