And to think that HGV drivers resort to Coke bottles these days when a Tudor washer bottle was so much handier.Looking forward to seeing the body work being tackled on this as it makes my MKI look like a minter. And siding with the leavers,I think the dash should get the heave ho and back to the original cluster.

As per the poll thread, the dash is 99% likely to be left out of the build.

It just isn't good enough to refit and in my opinion would spoil the project.

Will hang it above the mantlepiece in the front room..........

I'm pretty sure the factory never got involved with such luxurious indulgencies as radios or speakers!!

Found any Green Shield stamps yet Andrew??

Just looks nicely fitted Pete but maybe someone actually took pride in their work fitting the speaker grille :?

It's a nice grille and will go back, otherwise I'll have a parcel shelf with holes in it.

No green shield stamps Pete, I think the previous owner rifled through it when he laid it up for such things.

Did a little more dismantling tonight....

I've never seen headlining with soundproofing attached to it like this before - sound deadening also stuck to roof as normal...

Also, found this interesting relic..........

£168 at auction in 1973, I wonder what condition it would have been in ?

The auction house is still going so will have to drop them a line to see if they have records going back that far.....

Anyone got any good ideas on trying to preserve this ? I thought of laminating it on a sheet of card but is there any other way....its fragile !!!!!

I've definately seen soundproofing sections like that in the headlining of an original unmessed with early '64 998 Cooper I once had!

Will have a look at that Ronnie, might give me some ideas.

So, we have a 64 & 65 with this additional sound deadening felt then Pete.

Anyone else ever seen this ?

Cant help with the insulation, just twice as much to absorb the moisture.

But great find with the receipt!

1973 that’s a year and a bit before I was born!
Funny to think £168 for a car. The wheels are worth more than that now!

Almost fully stripped now, save the front subframe which will be staying in for as long as possible to provide more strength.

Made a start fitting the brace frames - door apertures braces tacked in and cross braces laid in .

Still some crap to clear up from the floor but as you can see, it's not really held in with much

Hoping that the Magnum body sides come off next year as the passenger side definitely could do with one. I can get away with individual panels on the drivers side.
