i saw this on the news last night, man do they go.

the cost is £400,000 each!

makes the price of a normal works mini look cheap!

This season, the Prodrive team will contest six rounds of the FIA World Rally Championship. The WRC MINI will be tested against its rivals for the first time at the Rally d’Italia Sardegna from 5th to 8th May 2011.
Quote: "The goal in the debut season is to gain valuable experience to be perfectly prepared to take on the entire 2012 World Rally Championship."

They are coming to NZ next year - it will be the 40th aniversary of a (real) Mini winning the international rally here - Andrew Cowan won in a 1275GT in 72.

You would imagine BMW won't be taking this lightly - why would they not want to beat Citroen and Ford? It might be interesting to see who drives them next year?
