Black satin chassis paint..

Post by sandman »

I'm in need for some black chassis paint to paint the suspension on a racer I am working on..... what type is good to use?
I think I can get hold of Frost/Eastwood locally... do they got anything good?
Cheers,

The frosts chassis satin black is more of an enamel type paint which I found not very resistant to most types of chemicals including brake cleaner. I'm just trying out some simoniz tough black at the moment, this is a nice satin finish and meant to be chip & petrol resistant.

I would recommendthat you paint suspension parts a light colour (such as grey).
It is very difficult to see cracks in parts when they are black, but if they are a light colour, oil/dirt in the crack highlights them.
-Look at older racing cars / aircraft

I've found the epoxy based paints very durable, there's a nice stain black version readily available here. Dunno about grey tho' :?

cheers
