My old "1967" traveller

Post by llmikeyj »

Hi,
Does anybody here know what happened to my old Traveller JAA219E?

It was in reality the back half of a blue clubman estate welded to the front half of a mini 30! Done by a defunct body shop somewhere in Notts/Derbys called AA Autorama and used to advertise their business.

I sold it in around 2002 I think, to a dealer in Holmfirth for 800 quid. It was my first ever ebay sale and nobody was bidding, so this guy phoned me up and offered 800.

It had a 1380 with components from MED but was in a pretty rough condition and back then I didn't have the skills, money, or space to restore it.

I do know that it went back on ebay about a year later, repainted black and sold for £5500...

But looking at the DVLA history online, the MOT fail shows that the car was not repaired properly and has been SORNed ever since.

These are some of the pictures from my ebay advert way back:

Anybody know what happened to it? I would guess that the new owner was not happy at that first MOT...

No, fair comment. It was the closest I could get to owning a Traveller at the time and I'm guessing it was built in the early 90s when the rules were a lot more relaxed. I think possibly the only original parts were the wood.
