Info please on this 63 amateur race mini raced in 76
Hello,
I am looking for any information on what I beleive to be a 63 mini delux fake cooper that was used in mid 70s in England as a race car. I beleive it originally had just the horizontal blue stripe and later received the Union Jack paint over it. It has stickers for "Anton rally 76" and "Avon tyres 76" on it. I was told the owner when finished sold this off as a parts shell and build a replacement car with new shell. This still has a 1070 and a bunch of Cooper s parts on it.
I now have ownership papers and going to start restoration on the car soon. Hoping to find some history about the car, owner, race finish, and I would be tickled pink if I can get some pictures of it back in the 70s.
Thanks for reading.
Ed

As 'Abbotts Ann' is a small village near Andover in Hampshire, England it should hopefully be possible to find out some information about the sponsor Jet Garage and its owners?

Looks like 'Abbots Ann 492' was the garage phone number. The transition to all-figure dialling in the UK occurred between 1966 and 1970 (starting with cities like London first) but I think many local people and businesses in rural areas continued to use the traditional system of the initial letters of the area place name instead of the new number area codes for some time after.

Thanks for the info so far. Anyone know anything about the two races referenced in 76?
I have not posted this here but a couple other forums about a year ago when I got the car. It's been abandoned for about 30 years prior to me saving t and putting it inside. Brought over here to the states in the 80s sometime. Anything that's regional like the phone number is greatly appreaciated. I will look into contacting the community and requesting info about jet garage of that timeframe. Maybe someone remembers it racing or has a picture on the wall from when they sponsored it.

I am sure I have seen this car on here before too. Pretty distinctive features too.
