Delighted to say that my Mini has an MoT for the first time in almost 30 years!
Off to get her taxed this morning....
Still needs a few bits of fettling before taking her out (clutch is shot, and seats need rewebbing)...
But one more rescued.

Re: Morris Mini 1962 - returning to the road
i know that feeling very well, almost 2 years ago ( 5 May ) i had my 1962 Morris mini MOT for the first time in around 40 years. great feeling to know you could get in it and go out for a drive.
still going and now coming up for it 3rd MOT, time flies
enjoy it, get those niggles sorted and start using it. great to have another one on the road.

Always good to have another Mini rescued and back on the road and as said, its a great feeling
I've got my pick up booked in for MOT on May 6th, first time since 1988. Working through the list of jobs to do but apart from sorting out the correct tan seats, it should be pretty much there.

Indeed, just got her taxed.
Having read the various sagas on the internet of trying to tax a car when it has been laid up for decades, I was not expecting a simple process....
I went armed with V5, insurance and mot, completed V10 form to change tax classification.
V5 was scanned, didn't need the v10, insurance or mot certificates, they took the v5 to change the taxation class and will send to dvla.
No charge for anything, walked out with Ved receipt.
Amazed!

Well done! It is a great feeling when you complete a restoration AND a great feeling when you come out of a Post Office with 12months FREE road tax

Re: Morris Mini 1962 - returning to the road
Some cars have a ridiculous road tax charge. Somebody I know just bought a new car and found the first year road tax is £2000
It is something I've been careful to check each time I've changed a car. I know there have been some changes again just recently. It's hard to keep up with it all.
