tom

that one had been for sale somewhere, ebay maybe - it was strong money, but does look very well done. it might have lived in n.ireland possibly

mine doesnt look anywhere as good as that anymore (not that it ever did!) - its developed a nice tatty patina, and a stone chip in the front screen - gah!
please note, these are my own, individual sales, nothing whatsoever to do with my employer, minispares

The white Sprint was built by a guy here in N Ireland and completed the day before our big Mini event at Portstewart last August. Really impressive Sprint - probably one of the best I've seen.

I noticed it for sale on www.carandclassic.com - is big money alright.

Lovely motor though.

Anyone read the latest issue of Classic and Sports Cars?
The Rob Walker MiniSprint estate appears to survive in Western Australia.
How cool is that?

Bonnet bulge seems to be different? there is also a air intake, so that should be identifiable ?

Is it the picture ? or is GMR 4D a smoothroof ?

The doors on the shell on the rack are later UK doors with the chrome safety bosses, Australian sliding window doors (from Morris 850) never had these bosses. Those doors would be rare here. Winding window doors here had a black plastic boss up until burstproof flappy handles appeared on late Mini K / MkII S and Clubman.

I would also check the roof drain holes for the UK style split drain (not holes or slot). All this would point to UK build.

I was only reading the classic and sports car edition with the Rob Walker sprint in it this afternoon, it mentioned that his estate sprint went to Aus when his son moved out there, said he wished that he had kept it himself.

It might be 4D, the indicator / side light unit looks like the one fitted in the original photo, AOU seem to have a smaller light fitted. Another great car to find, why are all these great Sprints spread around the world, VPR 470 in the USA, the MSR in Japan, this one in Aus, and the BVRT car in France, a good holiday trip would be needed to see them all :)

Very interesting!

I have forwarded a copy of this thread to Neville to see if he can shed any light on it. I know that he did at least 1 original Sprint Traveller.

Good point and the CCC Traveller also had those Elf/Hornet style units.

I'm pretty sure there was at least one more pic of the car registered AOU in a later issue of CCC mag.
Will try and find it.
