I used an original one, that i simply cleaned up with silicone spray.
I have 2 sets from Gordon, and must say they're perfect and as close to original
you can get...
How ever the small one from the filter box are fra Gordon. I really cant see the difference on thoose. It's perfect.

I've recently aquired a 1071 lump and in my hunt for a proper shell, I was directed to Marks site with your resto blog. Scot steered me here. I must commend you on your attention to detail and tireless efforts to make the car as right as it was when it rolled off the line and not to over restore it like so many other resto's.
I did have a question about your metalizing the body after welding. In my line we metalize outdoor furniture with zinc. What metal did you spray on the body?
When we use zinc, we need to epoxy prime it.
You are truly an artist and the pictures here are a testament to your skills. Congrats on what must be the most genuine 1071 in existence.

So, over the last few days, I had some of the small things putted together and had them ready for the car. I was lucky to find a
very good 1. quarter 64 windshield for my car last year, as that was the only non original glass missing for the car. That one are now in, and without any bigger problem. Peeew.
The original Trico LHD wiperarms are fittet with new Trico blades, and are also working perfect.
I restored the pre. september interior mirror a few years ago, but now it´s finally putted together, and its now in the car again.

I find the "new" Newton interior very nice, and its been a pleasure working with, witout any kind of fitment problems at all. However the sun visors are way off.. They´re simply too thick and too padded. I tried and ask if there was any change to had them made as the originals, but they were not able help me. But they were as allways kind, and send me a rool of the cream crackle if i wanted to try myself....
Meanwhile, last summer, I must have done something good. ( God knows what?) . I found a NOS set of the cream cracle visors, so problem solved for now.

Those sunvisors were a nice find!
I have fitted an original headlining but used newton 65 swiveling visors ,which are very accurate in shape , the newton crackle material is slightly creamier, but not that noticable.

Carpet fitting question....
fitting the toe-board piece - did you cut round the 2 studs that hold the accelerator pedal to the toe -board?
Or fit carpet first and bolt the accelerator pedal over the top of the carpet?

I hope ill understand your question correct. The accelerator pedal are fittet with 2 bolts. Into 2 nuts weldet on the shelf. I fitted the carpet first, then found out where to make 2 tiny holes for the bolts. And then fitted it onto the carpet...
