Some great information and pictures, was the French Sprint gold first (as per the model) or silver from new, with the model the wrong colour?

Just to add another question to the mix.
I remember Neville telling me that he was paid to go over to France to Sprint a car that was used by someone in publicity work. I wonder if this is that car. I'll contact Nev & see what light he can throw on it.

Mark, it's not that car. Neville done a car in the south of France but it's another one.
By the way, i show him the picture some years ago and he said "not my job"

I have had 2 sets. A 6" with the flutes on the back as well and no "magna" and no date. Early ones, I got rid of these as the outer "lips" on 2 of the wheels had been turned off and the nut holes were oval. I sold these to be restored. The second set I had, I picked up for £200, which I thought was a fair price, they were a set of 6" from 1968 and 3 of the wheels had J.A.P and MAGNA in ovals and one had J.A.P and 1968. They were mint. Very very very sadly, our totally insane neighbour torched our shed and they were reduced to a pool of magnesium (most of them didn't burn).
I have a 66 morris cooper with a 1430 which is in bits in the shed (funnily enough). I have a set of 4.5" magnesium minilites as I picked these up at the right price and I don't really want to fit arches to the car, however, if the price was right and they were good/straight, I'd be interested and perhaps consider them. However, it would probably make more sense for people to go bonkers about them on ebay.
The market for these isn't particularly strong, but they don't come up often.
For the record, they made a 4.5" in "12 spoke" and then all the way up to 6.5". The early ones have "spokes" on the back and the later ones are plain.
If I recall correctly, JA Pearce entered F1 in 1966 and his wheels were pretty widespread, in about 1970ish, the factory burned down and that was the last of them.
They were very very very light.

back off topic, but i'm not sure about JA Pearce factory burning down, but their transporter burnt out overnight at Silverstone for the GP with 2 cars inside. I think there was a Cooper F1 car with a Martin V8 engine and another with a Ferrari V12 (a GTO engine, I think)
maybe the factory burned down too, but if it did, i wouldn't like to have paid their premiums!

Hi all Sprint guys,
I am still trying to find out, what happened to the Swedish Sprint??
Regarding the Danish Sprint, did I speak to Erik Höjer 4 weeks ago.
His wife could still remember the registration number on the Danish Sprint, and this is 42 years later
but we have not been able to trace the car?
The closest I have come is a low Black Mini, with fuel injection (8 port Arden?)
this car was stolen more than 30 years ago, not long from where I live now, and was never seen again
the owner always removed some vital part from the fuel system, when he parked it at home, but still it dissapeared.
A witness had seen a car with a trailer, that very same night.
The 2 guys who remember the car, said it was Black, and lived in this nighbourhood, so it could very well be that same car.
now for the good news, my friend Nigel, has been home to Wales for Christmas.
This time he found the pictures of his Sprint I will post them, as soon as I get my "sticky fingers" on them

No it doesn't.
I can show you dozens of pictures of Downton Alloy rocker covers, it doesn't mean that the car came with one.
Downton in Wiltshire never did an alloy rocker cover.

ah, but if they hated them as much as they did i would have thought that any car/engine that turned up with one would simply 'loose it' and have it replaced with a tin top!
