998 pressed rockers

Post by ian2988 »

Hi.
Anyone know if pressed steel rockers and related posts etc for the 998 are different to the 1275? I have taken a set from a 998 cooper to fit onto a 940 head on a 970S motor, and they don't appear to line up with the valve stem correctly. Were pressed rockers ever used on a 940 head or do I need to get some forged S ones?

Yes the 1275 ones have a wider oval pad, and can be used on small bore but not the other way around.

See yours are welded, I was going to start a thread on how to weld the rockers and how much weld is needed and where. I did a set of 998 ones then decided to 'upgrade' to the 1275 ones as they have a slightly higher ratio.

I know welding them has been a practice going back a long way, but I question if it really is necessary. I've run some high poundage springs with fast opening and closing cam profiles and never had an issue, but open to learn from other on this.

Of the factory Rockers, the Pressed types have always been my pick.
