Hi
I've just fitted a new Facet fuel pump to my FIA Mini to replace the knackered SU pump. Does anyone have any suggestions as to whether a fuel pressure regulator will be required, and if so what pressure to run?
The engine is a full race 1293 on twin HS4's and the flow rate of the pump is 6-8 psi/40 gallons per hour.
Thanks in advance!
Paul

Re: Fuel pressure advice
A regulator is definitely a good idea. Normally a fuel pressure of 3-4psi is best.

The Facets are a good pump, but their 'off the shelf' ones, as Red Mist has already said have pressures that are too high for SUs, unless a regulator is also used.
I've used a number of these;-

and I gotta say, I'm very impressed.

Would I be correct in saying that SU's are supposed to be fed at about 2.5PSI,
but many people run them higher because they don't know the difference between
capacity and pressure?

Re: Fuel pressure advice
Thanks guys. I used the Facet as I had a spare for a Crossle sports racer on the shelf. I thought it might be a bit powerful as the Mini has a few less bhp!
I shall pick up a couple of the recommended pumps.
