Re: red rear lights ?
Some USA cars had red rear lenses for the indicators.
The power of accurate observation is commonly called cynicism by those who do not possess it.

I believe all Mk1 Minis exported to the USA had red one-piece taillights, but there maybe have been other markets as well.

Sorry yeah, I mean the lens is one piece (as opposed to the two-piece style of home market vehicles).minimans wrote:Not so sure about one piece? always had two piece from what I've seen? I recently picked up an NOS boxed left hand US style red tail light, if anybody happens to have an NOS right side (long shot I know!)

Any chance of getting the part number off it and a picture? I've never seen a one piece lens before

The two piece ones are available from Moss Motors. They are the same as the MGA Mk11, except the MGA has them on the opposite side to a mini..

Re: red rear lights ?
All so in Canada red lights.
I have a comlete set L and R.
Also there are MkII sets in red,
had some of those but sold them.
Kees.
A friend of mine has a set two piece red
for sale, so if some one wants them ?
I'll ask the price from the set if you want it.
Mine are not for sale, they are still in the original box.

Re: red rear lights ?
U.S. imports, Mk I: rear, red top and bottom. Separate pieces, not singles. (Front, clear.) Mk II rears were both red top and yellow top. I haven't been able to confirm a change date from red to yellow.

Re: red rear lights ?
I have a bunch of solid red 2 piece lenses for a Mk1, never seen a one piece. I do, however, have a solid red set of Pickup lenses that are one piece.

Re: red rear lights ?
My US import 1071 are delivered with the red lenses. They´re 2 pieces original.
The skandinavian mini´s was not with the red lenses, but the normal orange ones.
The part numbers are 47H5479 / 47H5480

Re: red rear lights ?
I'd be interested in a pic of a one pc. lens. I have several sets of red rear lamp assemblies. I even have several NOS red uppers. I know they have been reproduced but have not compared OE to reman yet. Steve (CTR)

Well, I am a big old liar, the pickup lenses are 2 piece as well, just a very tight fit.swindrum wrote:I have a bunch of solid red 2 piece lenses for a Mk1, never seen a one piece. I do, however, have a solid red set of Pickup lenses that are one piece.

Re: red rear lights ?
I'll post pics of the one-piece lens later. I believe one-piece lenses were standard for U.S. market cars, my '66 has them and the NOS LH assembly I have has the correct part number for a Mini and a one-piece red lens.
EDIT: I stand completely corrected. Just checked my old taillight lenses and NOS replacements. All of them are two-piece red. The old ones had simply "fused" together with dirt and debris over the years and wouldn't easily separate. Learn something new every day!
