Horn Push Switch Wiring Assembly BCA 4505?

Post by JohninCM »

Are there any reproduction options available for this horn push kit? All of the pieces are long gone on my 64 Cooper.

Since these bits are hidden does anyone have a work around that could be considered (hopefully not a toggle switch on the dash railing).

Thanks,

John

How many bits are you short of?

The whole kit, or just the wire assembly. The most difficult bit to work round is the brass ring, if you have this then I reckon the other parts could be made quite easily.

Unfortunately I don't have any of the bits. Everything was missing when I bought the Mini.

If anyone has a complete kit or individual components I'm happy to purchase. Heads up that I am located in the USA.

Charlynsane, I will send you a PM.

Thank you,

John

That one is actually a Morris Minor one which is different in several respects. The brass ring is shorter and the inner plastic tube longer than the Mini equivalent. The black collar is fixed by the black ring, this is absent on the Mini setup.
MM ones can be used but you need to do a bit of modification. In the absence of enough mk1 Mini columns with the gubbins complete, I have been buying MM ones and doing the necessary. It is possible to buy MM ones at auto jumbles for around £35. You then end up with lots of MM columns that nobody wants.

This appears to be a Mini one. Note box not included and if you read the text its actually second hand...

Thank you Tim. If it was NOS I might jump on it. There is no reason to put the BMC box in the listing other than being deceptive. With that and the price point (for used parts) I have a feeling the results will be disappointing.

That was the listing that prompted me to ask once I saw it was sold.

Thank you!

Do I understand correctly pn# BCA 4505 is not the correct unit for a Mk1 Mini? What is the correct part number?

I'm just sorting out some spare parts for my "trunk trader" pitch at Beaulieu next month and have one of each type of horn contact. If £30 is about the going rate I'd be happy to accept that figure and can post anywhere at cost. If you're interested just let me know which one you want by pm and we'll arrange something. Richard.

I would take the Mini one if none of the people ahead of me want it. I will of course be at Beaulieu in my usual spot.
