I'm aware most people say they are unnecessary, however my block has come with one fitted. This has caused an issue in that I can't find anywhere that lists the longer studs, only bolts for ordinary 1275 etc. Can anyone suggest somewhere that sells them? Is it acceptable to reuse the ones I have (sorry if that's daft but I have been brought up on stretch bolts ). I did consider just refitting it without the strap, but having not seen a standard cap I didn't know how much material would have been machined off to make it flat.
I haven't known anyone to sell the longer studs as per S . The Cooper s main cap and stud set up is very strong and unless your going to be revving the nuts off it , I can't see it failing . ... Ken

Thanks for the advice chaps I thought it would probably be alright to use without it but thought I'd ask just in case I think I've been mulling it over and I think I've got a couple of people I can ask to make some studs locally, or I did wonder about trimming down / adapting the strap to suit original length studs if they were long enough.
Got a busy weekend sadly but I'm going to try and sneak off for a play at some point!
