Coventry Radiator

Post by minitravellerman »

I have a Coventry radiator that I think was fitted to a 61 Seven I had many moons ago. Any idea of its value if I got it refurbished?

Is it dated '61? I might be interested in a swap for another Coventry that I have that's 63 (I think) dated..

I'll take a look - never checked it. Will pull it out over the weekend and give it a clean to see if there are any identification marks on it.

Any clues as to where the date is stamped? I have an old radiator but didn't know they were dated. I don't think it mattered back when I first got into Minis :o

On mine, there's a sort of 'coin' brazed onto the side of the header tank - from memory it says something like 659, which apparently translates as September 65. I'll find a pic later and share it here.

It there's no space between the 6 and 59 I would question if its a date code. Date codes normally have the month (prior to 71) or week 71 and later) first then the year. If there is a space it might be a date code but its July 1959

I'd rather not know as I knocked something off a shelf the other week and dinged the top of my perfect shiny Coventry rad. :|

Date should be stamped on side (hidden when fitted).
First four numbers is BMC part number, last four numbers; week number/year.
