Some assistance dating an FE number

Post by abri »

A friend of mine has a shell with FE602080 in the usual place above the rad shroud on the inner wing. Quite unusual to see that on a car in South Africa. It must have been an import. Could anyone put an approximate date to that number?

Thanks in advance

Thanks a lot Simon.

Incredible that you guys can date a car to within two weeks of its production!

Another feather in the cap of this amazing forum.

The nearest I can suggest is mid 70s, as my data is mainly for the 1960s.

Be interesting to know what date you think FE817496 is? We'd guessed late '64/early '65, in line with the reg date and others we've seen, but hard to tell. Cheers

I'd agree with that, but can't be more specific.
