I'd better not miss it then, as it seems it's all of 32 miles away.
Have tonight got the esteemed author Doug Nye volunteering to check period reports of the 66 Welsh for any details of Fall's shunt in 309.

After a bit of string pulling here and there Paddy Hopkirk and Ron Crellin will reunite with the first rally Mini they ever competed in together - 'GRX 309D', some 50 years ago on the Flowers Rally at Bingley Hall on January 31st. The car's 50 years old this year and wore the number 50 on that rally. Spooky or what?

I'll post pics up no problem. I think it'll be packed, it usually is even when there's not much going on!

I've not been to Bingley for about 7 years, I might wander down if the roads aren't covered in snow. I might take a few snaps whilst I'm there too. ;)

It's ALOT busier than it was seven years ago Stu so you might need a wide angle lens! I'd also recommend getting an advance ticket as the Q to get in is HUUUUUUUUUGE in the morning, which is no fun if it's raining or you have parts with you etc. If it carries on raining the car parks will be like the Somme!

Just been sorting out the reunion details, Paddy and Ron will be with the car at 1pm. Not that it's even been mentioned on BMCs website or Facebook page, oddly.

Ticket just ordered so I guess I will be there. Talking of wide angles I've just got a new 10-22mm lens which needs trying out.

Pete I know what book that pic is in. :) Other's may know which car it was. Was Rauno the only one to use the collum dip switch?

I believe Rauno was the only one to use the hand dip switch.

Having looked at a few pics, I don't believe it to be Rauno's Monte car CRX88B.
Wrong trim in the doors and wrong colour door pads.
CRX88B was lightened Group 3.
CRX88B also had black tape on the door lock pads.
You can just make out the Tudor washer bottle behind the drivers seat.
The best chance of ID ing these pics is to identify them from other ones taken at the same time.
If they can be found.

Could be earlier than 65 ?looks like a early gear lever without the rubber sandwich (straight black stick)

it's a late '64 or '65 shell as it's got the swivelly visors but could be a '66 registered car?

EBL 55C was used quite a lot by Rauno through '65, but perhaps too late ? ( Guy will be able to advise with comparisons to 56C ). Isn't 55C the unrestored car in Finland that Berni Griffin and Paul Sulma went to see a few years back, photographed in Cooperworld at the time ?
Could be mistaken, but would like to see those pics again if anyone has them please.

Well assuming we take it as a 1965 car, and we assume it is Rauno's because of the dip switch

If we rule out CRX88B, which I am convinced it isn't due to it NOT being Group 3.
It can only be:

DJB93B Swedish
EBL55C Geneva
EJB55C Rallye Vltava
EBL55C Alpine
CRX89B Polish
EBL55C 1000 Lakes
CRX89B Munich-Vienna Budapest
DJB93B RAC

So thats 4 cars potentially
A little earlier would put CRX89B in the frame for the 1964 RAC
But it needs further research

NB: working out which of these had a heated screen would narrow it down further. It has screen and switch visible.

So looking at pictures again
CRX89B 64 RAC no heated screen
DJB93B Swedish did have a Heated screen
EBL55C Geneva no heated screen
EJB55C Rallye Vltava no heated screen
EBL55C Alpine no heated screen
CRX89B Polish no heated screen
EBL55C 1000 Lakes I can't find a picture yet, but probably didn't (EBL56C didn't)
CRX89B Munich-Vienna Budapest no heated screen
DJB93B RAC No Heated screen

So that means it is almost certainly DJB93B 1965 Swedish Rally
Best guess
